Branding, design, infographics and illustrations for the Melbourne Cup 2014 special wrap-around in The West Australian newspaper and TABform newspaper. Which included jockey silks and zodiac symbol illustrations. I was inspired by the line art illustrations on playing cards, especially Kings, Queens and Jacks which I incorporated into this project. This was one of the most fun projects I worked on during my time at The West Australian Newspaper. Creating the branding and illustrations for the jockey silks and zodiac symbols was fantastic. We didn't normally have a lot of time to plan and prepare things while working at a busy daily newspaper but I got a few weeks lead time which made all the difference for this big project.

JOCKEY SILKS PATTERN TEST AND COLOUR TEST
We didn't have information about the colours and patterns of the jockey silks until a day or two before the race. So I designed templates for all of the most common helmet, shirt and sleeve patterns so the final versions could be made quickly.
